A Favorite Elm Provides Shade on a Summer Day
"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now." - Chinese proverb.
And so it was back to work I went on Wednesday morning, after my big railroad adventure. I stopped at the Corner Room for a quick breakfast. It seemed like an appropriate thing to do to help get me back in the swing of things. And having four meals (three breakfasts and one French onion soup for a quick lunch one day) at the Corner Room within 45 days earned me my next one free, hooray!
After my breakfast, I spent just a few minutes walking around our gorgeous campus. It is never prettier than it is in summertime, and I stopped to visit the remaining elm tree on the left side of Old Main. It is one of my favorite trees anywhere. It is beautiful to look at, and it provides shelter for the squirrels and birds, and shade for me and everyone else on a summer's day.
The song: Lynyrd Skynyrd, Made in the Shade.
P.S. I was away for a few days so I've fallen behind. In order to catch up on Blip, I'll be posting two entries today. Be sure to check out the other one as well. :-)
