Captain Beaky!

The curlew or, in Scotland, "whaup", is something of a favourite of mine. It's call is redolent of open, empty, wild places, high windswept moorland or broad coastal tide flats.
This afternoon, our son Andrew and I had a look at the Kinneil lagoon. It was wall to wall birdlife and dozens of photos were taken but I was happiest with this back shot of a whaup.
