Feasting Again

Tonight was the Padre's 35th birthday celebrations. Hoping no-one is upset by this photo of one of the many starters (put it into mono to lessen the effect) - suckling pig, which was, have to admit, delicious. A local black piglet, marinaded in orange juice and firewater for a day, and then another day in garlic and can't remember what else, and then roast in the oven, slowly, for six hours. Crunchy copper skin and melting meat...

Can't begin to tell you all the food there was - even the locals were amazed. As I said to Cecílio, who asked me what I thought of their cuisine, the problem is that I used to think I was a good cook; at the moment, I don't have the courage to invite anyone for a meal...

We did work up at the Land, as always, and now, it's after midnight, and tomorrow we drive to Faro to pick up our daughter and boyfriend, God willing.
