Only in L.A.
After some discussion, Matt, Claire and I decided we should drive down Ventura Blvd. to Studio City for coffee at Alfred's, which is in the neighborhood of Claire and Julia's school, Campbell Hall. We were joined by OilMan and Will. Julia had to go to school for college prep week and Amy stayed home to make sure her Fitbit vibrating alarm watch woke her up.
As we were sitting on the sidewalk in front of Alfred's, this food truck pulled up in front and parked. People began lining up waiting for them to open, even though they were standing right in front of a coffee shop. Somehow the writing on the truck made me laugh but it didn't really make me want to buy a bagel. Claire was tempted, but since she had already bought a muffin at Alfred's she resisted.
Claire pointed out several shops and a shoe store in the area, but none of them was open yet so we contented ourselves by peering through the window. Our chance came later when OilMan, Will and Matt went off to Glendale in search of the perfect putter and we went shopping.
Lacking many shopping opportunities in Santa Rosa, and well supported by Claire and Amy, I had a bit of a shopping spree, well, more than a bit. Julia, weighing in on my new sunglasses said, " oh my god, grandma's hip!"....
It was a good day....
