Finally
I've been searching for this little guy for about three weeks and finally found it today at Old Lodge reserve on the Ashdown Forest. The male black darter is the smallest dragonfly (about 30 mm long) and the only black one. It is confined to acid heathland pools. Although its abundant in the north it is something of a rarity in Sussex and has only been recorded in a handful of sites.
