Barley and Wheat

Today was the last day of the school summer holidays. 
I have spent the day catching up on housework and very little else.
I went out for a brief walk round the farm fields. Despite having lived in the countryside for a couple of decades, I still struggle to identify the crops. I know that wheat has whiskers and barley has beards but I struggle to work out which one is a beard and which one is a whisker!
