Monmouth
We went to Monmouth, just inside Wales, for a few days break today. We have a nice Airbnb Victorian terrace house a stone's throw from the town centre.
After a bit of lunch we had a wander round and explored the town. Monmouth is a small, historic, town, the birthplace of Henry V at the castle, now reduced to a tower and a couple of walls.
We were pleased to find a Cafe Nero on the high street where we retired for a well deserved cup of coffee after our walk.
The river Monnow flows through the town. We stopped on the bridge, the last remaining fortified bridge in Great Britain with its gate tower standing on the bridge (wikithing). This little beach seems popular with families and dogs, the river is obviously very shallow here and there is very little current.
