Increidlbe

I haven't figured out how this child continually puts me in situations of total awe. But it happened again today. Today we both played on stage at the ROYAL ALBERT HALL. Her face as she walked into the stage was beautiful. She looked absolutely amazed yet walked two steps further, clarinet in hand, and seemed totally at ease and ready to go. We were part of the BBC proms family Orchestra and chorus "Oklahoma" workshop. She played beautifully, enjoying time learning with a royal philharmonic clarinetist. I was in the percussion section and was slightly bemused by the surrealness of it all. The very first thing we did as a group (of 250 people!) was to just sing and play notes to listen in awe at the incredible acoustics of the amazing auditorium. It took my breathe away. After the workshop had finished, Katie stood in the middle of the arena, the only musician playing, and improvised for a while- looking up at the ceiling as her sound reverberated around her. It was such an incredible moment. I don't really hold much doubt in her opinion that one day she'll play there with a full audience.

The rest of the day was almost equally wonderful. We had lunch with one of our dearest friends. We wandered back down Exhibtion Road and enjoyed several street performers before we then spent a very happy afternoon in the V&A. We happened to land on various additional projects that were taking place: a children's performance tour and dressing up, 3D sculpting, craft projects... as well as enjoying interactive areas about silver, the water fountain, all sorts. We even ended up having to fashion her a dress out of one of mine as she'd soaked her own clothes! We had an emergency coffee on our way out as my wee superstar was beginning to flag by the end of the day.

We got home to my cousins and it was very clear she wasn't going to make it through to evening dinner with everyone else so ate a quick pesto pasta tea and zonked in bed

Today has several extras. Today was incredible.
