Classic San Francisco
In the distance you can see Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay. There is Cable Car traveling down the steep hill and the houses build on the hillside. Alcatraz was a Federal Prison for the worst of the worst prisoners from 1934 to 1963. It is believed that no one has ever actually escaped safely.
The cable cars have been operating with manual brakes for as long as I can remember.....with the steep hills the ride is a bit scary. I just read on the internet that the cable cars here are the last manually operated cable cars in the world. No wonder that was a long line waiting to ride one.
We walked up to Lombard St which has a portion that is severely curvy and absolutely every tourist with a car wants to travel down it. See Extra: It is beautifully landscaped with spectacular homes all along it. Since it is always crowded I wonder how people get home. Notice the tiny car that can be rented on the Wharf with a GPS system to tour the area. Coit Tower is on the hill in the background.
Thanks for the nice comments for the sunset yesterday. See you tomorrow.
