Christmas

For more than the last decade, I've been hosting a Christmas party.  It started out as 13 friends around the dining table for full Christmas dinner, the next year, 24 friends eating Christmas dinner off their knees.  Then it turned to pot luck dinners and as many people as our flat could handle.  The rules were simple: wear your most glamourous dress/suit, bring a dish, bring booze, bring a non-gender specific gift for the secret santa worth exactly some obscure amount that random.org would decide.

When we moved, the first year we hosted at our old flat (given we were still sitting on two picnic chairs due to lack of furniture), then we had a scaled down version.  Then after hiring the local church hall for my 30th, Christmas moved around the corner.  "Someone" bought two secret santa gifts this year, each containing a small nerf gun (and some biscuits and chocolate coins to make up the price).  They were only allowed to shoot at each other though.
