I decided to read my camera manual a bit more closely today and try to learn a few things about it (still on auto, but there are settings I've never tried). I started roaming about with some of the settings changed and then saw a perfectly posed and lit Small Copper butterfly, for the first time in my life as far as I'm aware. Could I get it in focus? No, I couldn't. And then it flew off. Settings now back to what I'm used to. If it ain't broke... etc.
