Just a Small Weed

While walking with a good friend this morning, I happened upon this small flower. In its normal state, it is much taller. However, this plant was in a park in an area that is constantly mowed. I was fascinated to note it blooming so close to the mowed grass. I think it was it's adaptation to trauma. Because a major goal in all living species is to reproduce, it decided that it would bloom in the closely cropped grass. I am not a botanist, but it is my theory. What does the rest of you think?
