Hakea Pods
I can't believe it's taken me all this time to learn how to harvest seed from the many and varied plants that abound at Wombat Hollow. A few days I blipped the Callistemon seeds. This morning I was absolutely astonished to see that the Hakea Pods I collected a couple of days ago had actually opened and revealed their seeds. In this case the pod only has two seeds unlike the Callistemon which had hundreds.
A wonderful young plumber is coming tomorrow to hook up the water to the shed so that the Blue Mountains Conservation Society can water the seeds that they will house their. Never ever imagined we would be baby sitting seedlings!!
Only two more sleeps before Rainie and Doug arrive from Timaru. We are so looking forward to seeing the both hop off the train at the Blackheath Railway station on Friday. I assured Rainie in a comment on her blip tonight that we'll guarantee they will be able to watch the first match in this years Bledisloe Cup in the Rugby Union. We're hoping to learn a bit about this mysterious game from these two sporting tragics :-)
