Conditions 'Carnival!'

This was the description of today’s sea conditions on the Lifeguard Information Board, at Cromer Seafront (see extra).
We caught the train from Sheringham to Cromer and found a spot to perch up on the hill overlooking the sea and the pier and waited for the Red Arrows to appear.  They gave a fabulous, nerve-jangling display as always (also see extras).  It was just a shame the backdrop of the sky wasn’t as blue this year.
Then we had a wander around Cromer (including the pier) in the warm sunshine and then enjoyed a very tasty lunch at ‘No1. Cromer’.  We had cockle popcorn to start (cockles deep fried in breadcrumbs), lovely with salt and vinegar).  The main course was slow cooked lamb shoulder, on a base of harissa hummus with pomegranate seeds, and to finish up my very favourite of their desserts, gooseberries poached in elderflower cordial, served with shortbread discs and clotted cream!  I definitely won’t be eating for the rest of the day!
