Clematis viticella 'Polish Spirit'
After the overnight rain, the morning sun made everything in the garden sparkle with an eye-watering intensity. The deep velvety-purple Clematis viticella 'Polish Spirit' is a stalwart of the late-summer garden, and although the early growth can be ravaged by slugs, it normally seems to bounce back and put on a fine display.
It was a welcome day at home for me, entering some data in the morning, and doing a bit of gardening in the afternoon while waiting for an engineer to come and fit our smart meter. He was running a bit late, but did a great job when he finally turned up, though the boiler was rather slow to relight, which caused me some consternation!
