From the sublime...

... of the ryokan... to the ridiculous camp, glam excess of the "Robot Restaurant" cabaret show. 

Breakfast in the ryokan was wonderful, as was experiencing the place in daylight, including the view of the river from my room [see extras]. After a final trip to the private bath it was back to Tokyo, a quick change of shirt and off to NTT for the afternoon.

In the evening we went into the heart of the neighbourhood where we are staying (Shinjuku) for a quick meal before going to the "Robot Restaurant" cabaret show. To say that it was over-the-top camp, glam excess is an understatement! It consisted of a seemingly endless parade of crazy animated machines and creatures accompanied by singers and dancers. Then we met up with a friend of a friend who lives here and went to a couple of the tiny bars in "Golden Gai".
