Public Access

Since the entire Grand Strand (about 60 miles of oceanfront) is lined with houses, condos, and hotels, public access to the beach is very important.  I was attracted to this scene since it represents such access, but also because the lifeguard stand is portable on the 4-wheeler meaning the lifeguard can set up his/her station in accordance with the crowds.  (Again, the orange umbrella is the key.)  Yesterday, about 12 blocks from this location, swimmers were called from the ocean based on the sighting of sharks about 100 to 200 yards offshore following a large school of fish.  Otherwise, today's photo is a simple shot of people accessing and enjoying the ocean and beach.  The yellow flag is flown as a caution as rip currents have been plentiful of late.
