At last!
I was beginning to think we were going to see any butterflies on the buddleja this year. It has been in flower for a number of weeks and nothing. Suddenly today two Red Admirals and a Peacock.
It always amazes me to think that Red Admirals are primarily migrants from the continent. Sightings in the south early in the year and immature individuals have lead to it being declared a resident. The population is believed to be only a tiny percentage of those seen over the UK during a summer. In good years it can be found anywhere in the UK including Orkney and Shetland.
