Only one stabbed finger...

Not bad,not bad at all... I was a very good kitchen assistant to Miss Whiplash* one of our very good teachers.... who also takes the 'Let's get Cooking' classes on a Monday night in the school kitchens.... as you can see my Lucy is actually pretending listening to her. They made some pretty decent food too ! I was impressed,they made Ham,Leek and cheesy savoury crumble with a breadcrumb and something or other topping and also a blackberry and apple sweet crumble....
We let the year 4's loose with some sharp knives and to give the whippersnappers their due they did darn well,even the one cutting his nail off... no one died and I am bored ridged of this pissing nanny state we live in,where people will now be shocked that we let 10 children who are aged 8 slice their own leeks and peel and slice cooking apples... AND two of them were cooking on the hotplates !!! god alive,how lax of us all !! Children learning a life skill...... it's a major rant of mine,the nannying of our children...... all this risk assessment is getting out of hand,by all means be safe but some stuff is just verging on the ridiculous.... well I want robust children who can cope with things not a load of saps who bleat..... bugger that.... wield that knife Lucy with my blessing and mind the person next you and also try and buy good quality knives as cheap ones are false economy.... and also invest in a good meat cleaver.
Here endeth the life lesson on good quality knives and not being a sap....
