Buccleuch Free Church, Edinburgh
My last full day in Edinburgh started with a BBC Front Row recording with the panel chaired by the author Val McDermid. It was an interesting session, suggesting lots of books I would like to read! We then went to a couple of average fringe events. It was after this I saw this church, bathed in sunlight in the late afternoon , while waiting for a bus. Built in 1856, it still has a lot of original features, and made a nice picture. We then went for a meal, a really great supper of tapas. We shared all the dishes including a haggis and chorizo dish which was surprisingly delicious -I am not a great fan of haggis! My final event this year was a book festival event - we saw Chris Patten talking about his latest book. Politicians are normally good entertainment when they leave office...which was certainly true in this case. All in all a good end to my attendance at the festivals.
