Sun on the heather and a wet road
So typical - of Scotland, of Scottish summers, of this August: it's been pouring only minutes earlier, as we ploughed our way up the gorge road with hoods up and rain dripping down legs, and suddenly we emerge into upper Glen Massan and the sun comes out. The wet road gleams, the heather is in full, improbable bloom, and we decide we'll walk on into the glen instead of retreating back down the road.
It stayed rather lovely for the rest of our walk - though now, a couple of hours later, I can see the curtains of rain sweeping over the Firth of Clyde once more...
