Five Rise Locks!

Another day of sunshine and showers, but hey what would a day be without a spot of monsoon rain and hugely contrasting black and blue skies! 

A morning of packing and sorting ahead of travels; a week of cycling in the Alps awaits! :-D This afternoon was another afternoon spent on the canal side, I realise this is the 3rd day running!! Today the choice was a stroll from Saltaire up to Five Rise Locks...even managing to sit outside for a cuppa at the cafe, lucky!

High drama occurred on the stroll as a dalmatian had jumped from the towpath down to the river a huge 30 feet below!! She was happily sat on the little island in the middle of the river whilst the owner desperately tried to call her back. She was having none of it so the poor man had to walk across the river to collect her and carry her back!! Amazingly, the dog was absolutely fine despite the massive jump - they won't forget that walk in a hurry. 

It is very sad to hear that Brucie has died today. 89 years old and 75 of those spent in showbiz. Well, that speaks for itself. A legend and one of a kind. Not many of his generation left, sadly, and well I can only think of Ant and Dec from this generation who can even come close to his level of talent and entertainment...
