Library of Lost Souls

..... for peculiar children.

Bookbenches like this can be found in all sorts of places this summer across Manchester (and Salford Quays). It's all about encouraging kids to read.

This one has been created by two year 8 pupils at Chorlton High School. It's one of the spookier benches.

I was en route to give a presentation to a Danish group visiting Liverpool and Manchester. I listened to other presentations. When it was explained that there are 70 separate bus companies operating in Greater Manchester (three big ones), that they are not allowed to share timetables or prices (that would be anti-competitive), and the consequent confusion , there was astonishment followed by general hilarity. The UK is a strange place in some ways.
