I'm analyzing this piece of Captain Cook's tea service which was lost when his cottage in Staithes was washed away in a storm. My wife and I often find things washed up on the beach at Whitby which we are sure used to belong to Cook. We have quite a collection. As you can see this has been in the sea for some time what with its smooth edges and everything.
