Gibson Girl Kite
Went to Nairn beach to fly kites with the family. My sister-in-law's dad came too and produced a haversack with his kite in. He slowly assembled it and it turned out to be an original box kite from a WWII radio transmitter know as a Gison Girl. The kite would have been used to raise an aerial for the radio to a suitable height. It was very sturdy to enable flight in strong winds. This box kite flew today much better than our kites and drew quite a few folk over to watch too.
