Because ....
.... I've never had a washing
(should that be drying?)(even when it isn't) line before,
I've never had the experience
of the clothes getting wetter out there in a storm.
I'm a bit baffled about what to do.
What is traditionally done next?
I've chosen just to leave them out
though the wind is rising
and they might not be there in the morning.
Learning a new craft;
hanging out clothes on a washing line,
and living in a real house
with a door and all that
when you are sixty eight
makes me wonder what I was doing
up till now.
Maybe I should have started studying
some things sooner.
But then maybe ....
PS. The greatest song ever written
about hanging out clothes
is Bob Dylan's 'Clothes Line Saga.'
(It would've been the greatest song ever written
if he hadn't also written
'The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest.')
