What is this strange object?!

Just to remind ourselves, this is an artistic impression (not mine) of the sun, it's been a bit lacking today!

Not really a day you want to hear that your car has a puncture, but thats exactly what happened to my friend (who initially was convinced she was getting her leg pulled). Thankfully she had enough help to keep the 'pain' to a minimum. Here's to the guys and gals who braved the wind and the rain with the right equipment and know how to help her.
