Thankfully the afternoon remained dry which meant there was plenty of folk at Stromness Pierhead for a great RNLI fundraiser.  The Thurso lifeboat came across the Firth, the Longhope Lifeboat was in attendance too for all of the special celebrations and speech-making.  The Stromness lifeboat of 1937 was in the water and she looked miniscule along the modern vessels. 

There was face-painting, trips in the Stromness lifeboat, raffles, plants for sale and sit-down tea and cakes on the pier around the fountain. 

Musical entertainment was supplied by very young buskers, the Stromness pipeband and the Salvation Army Band.
