The New Zealand Army

It's probably not fair to suggest that this is The New Zealand Army. There's probably at least another half dozen of these vehicles somewhere else.

On Great North Road is the Auckland Divisional Headquarters, quite close to where we stay. On odd occasions I have seen a convoy of trucks with cadets in the back, heading away to do some sort of exercise/training on a weekend. These vehicles look way more serious. Rather than for carrying men and boys about, these vehicles are for shooting at other people.

The Divisional Headquarters has no space for parking these off the street. It's actually a great selling point in this part of the city to be able to advertise your house for sale "with off street parking". People excavate under their house in order to get a garage put in. Take out the front garden and pave it. Wonder why the Army hasn't done so. Probably because they don't intend to move.

I came across this scene as I was finishing my run, and this trumped any other efforts.
