Partial Eclipse
Along with the rest of the USA we observed the Great American Eclipse™ (yes someone has gone and trademarked the eclipse) but we avoided the crowds. Everyone else traveled to a point on the path of totality where as we enjoyed it from the safety of the back garden.
Luckily it was fairly sunny so the disappearing sun could be projected through binoculars on to a piece of paper. The photo was taken around our peak of 67% eclipse. No real difference in brightness was obvious, the birds kept singing and life went on. Then the clouds rolled in and it got a lot darker.
Obviously I spent weeks designing this engineering marvel of cardboard and gaffer tape and will be selling it on ebay shortly.
