I didn't know it was national 'carry a brolly in the hills' day :)  Not that I could have joined in because I haven't yet replaced the one that blew inside out at Castlerigg. 

We went to the area east of Skiddaw in search of heather which was to be my blip. A  pleasant 7+ mile circular (my phone said 8.4) up one side of the Glenderaterra valley and back down the other towards Threlkeld, then returning  around the north of Latrigg. 

The heather and sheep are on flickr. These three hikers who seemed prepared for any weather did make me smile.
