Fields of Barley

A wild and windy day, perfect for a walk up to the cliffs.  Ollie and I walked round the edge of the barley fields for a change.  The rough track has had a lot of tractors and trailers on it recently, with all the silage cutting and baling that has been going on, and there is a lot of churned up mud about!  Following the grassy tracks and the old stone walls round the fields is much nicer.

There are lots of wild flowers in evidence, especially these wild pansies, and skylarks, swallows, twites and wrens too, flitting about.  In the long grass we kept coming across little burrows and hollows where rabbits, hedgehogs or pheasants, and probably hunting cats, have snuggled down.  Plenty of smells for Ollie to explore!  He came home very tired!
