Tram within a Tram

Visiting the Riverside Museum, Scotland's Museum of Transport and Travel, as part of Social Media Week, to think about how school visits would fit in with what teachers and pupils are planning to do.

And what a Wyllie-esque playground it is!

This is one of seven trams on display and there's a 'tram within this tram'.

Flying through the door in the driver's area is a bronze sculpture of a tram which George Wyllie created. The wee tram, with its angel wings, is flying off, commemorating the last trams in Glasgow. It's fifty years since the trams last ran.

Today, the museum is full of youngsters climbing in and out of the trams, and the trains, watching boat launches and locomotives being lifted on cranes, and listening and watching as touch-screens tell the stories of a past Glasgow.

Great place for a visit.

On 31st December hundreds of paper boats made by young people will be launched on the river nearby.
