The Long Drop
A long and tiring day today. Took wife to Denman for a haircut and then we proceeded to Gunnedah to see her mother who was ill. She is in good hands in a nursing home however she did not look well at all.
On the drive up I pointed out a couple shots I would like to take on the way back. Our son joined us on the return trip as we were going to Gosford tomorrow for his grand daughters first birthday.I then have to take him back to Gunnedah. All up I will have travelled 1140 km excluding travel in Gosford.Guess that may be more than some of you UK people would drive in a year. Todays total was 420km.
The toilet in the above photo is what is known as a Long Drop Toilet. It is strange that it is at the front of the church, not the back. The name came about by a large pit being dug and the toilet erected above it.The toilet was useable for many years. The church behind still operates as does the toilet and is situated some 14 kms from the nearest town Quirindi.
Glad to be home before all the driving begins over the weekend
