Ship's flag
I went to Norwich with a friend at the weekend. Apart from taste testing the city's beers (to make sure all is above board), we headed to the Castle museum which is currently hosting a Nelson in Norfolk exhibition. Fitting as he was born in nearby Burnham Thorpe.
The museum had brought together some really interesting exhibits including the coat and hat he wore at the Battle of the Nile and the Holley that killed him at Trafalgar but what I was most impressed with was the ensign of the French battleship Genereux which Nelson captured near Malta in 1800. It's in a very delicate state being more than 200 years old but still impressive. If it was laid out to its full length the flag would have been wider than the room it's in!
