Flower Friday: Bitterroot
A sweet-looking flower to have such a name. Bitterroot is an American native wildflower, first identified by Meriwether Lewis, and given the Latin name: Lewisia rediviva. He discovered it as part of President Jefferson's Corps of Discovery group that explored the American West. Native Americans sometimes ate the root.
I discovered this plant blooming on top of Stacker Butte, it was not a common plant in the area.
