Godinton House
I've been wanting to visit agin for ages, and at last managed it. I first went something like 15 years ago, with my friend and fellow LC guide at that time, Annie (more commonly known to us as Blodwyn)! Godinton became the place for ex LC guides to go to, and our tour was a personal one, just the two of us led by John P. John, a delightful chap, recently deceased aged 95, but mobile and active until the end.
Today, our guide (with Mr L this time) was Manuela. I don't know her, but she was excellent. Fun, interactive, engaging and full of knowledge. The Gardens have been much improved and provided a peaceful slow amble (mr L's legs playing up) that was all followed by an excellent cream tea.
We need to get up early tomorrow to get the cleaning and shopping done as N and K arrive tomorrow lunchtime. N is an ex foster child, who came to sat for the three weeks Easter holidays in 1980 and stayed seven years! She was 13 at the time, and only 13 years my junior. We had some interesting times! We've not seen her now for about seven years, so this weeekend will be interesting!
