Hear Poussin, See Lorrain (Little Sparta)

We went to Little Sparta, the magical integration of art, garden and landscape achieved by Ian and Sue Hamilton Finlayy over 40 plus years at Stonypath in the South Medwin Valley at the end of the Pentlands.

A delightful afternoon in the company of the Stella di Kerry and The Principal. The weather held up after earlier showers and although wet underfoot the five acre site was uncrowded and full of surprises. Go if you can. For a photographer the sculptures, the drystone work, , the heather-thatched houselet and the  the gardens in their intricacy and wildness are absolutely compelling. Low and fleeting sun works really well.
