David Stirling memorial
Went for a drive out towards Doune today and passed the memorial to David Stirling, the founder of the SAS. He has a wonderful view from up on his plinth there ( see extra). All round the site are plaques in a large circle around the statue listing the names of all those who have given their lives in the service. There are several blank slates in the circle presumably for future names to be inserted - another poignant reminder of the horrors of war.
