Sunshine

Today worked out better than the other week when I canned Liz's 100 mile ride with a cold coming on - the wind was less, the sun was out and it was much warmer.  Perfect for a boring ride east (we both agreed that!)  We concluded that stopping once to photograph sunflowers was evidence of the flat tedium.

We did enjoy ourselves, mind you.  I set off from home to Liz's in beautiful conditions, just before 7.  We headed all the way to Market Weighton without a stop because that was her half way marker and psychologically, that is always good.  We sat outside there and at the second cafe, just west of York, with plenty to chat about.

Given Liz doesn't ride regularly, she does remarkably well, helped by her feisty attitude.  As her legs began to shout, we headed up the hill home together before we went our separate ways.  My Garmin battery was running low at Wetherby so we stopped to ensure that was on battery save mode - Liz joked about how gutted she would be if her phone failed just before the 100.  When she got home, where had it stopped but at 99.4!

We've agreed the next rides will only ever be heading north and west so her next 100 will be a hilly one.  But, it was a great day out with me also clocking my longest ride so I too was pleased with that.
