Walking the Wall
Lucy (my daughter) and a group of friends are walking the Hadrian's Wall path from Bowness-on-Solway to Wallsend. It's Day 5 of their walk, from Chollerford to Heddon-on-the-Wall, and MrM and I had arranged to meet them and offered to provide a little back-up by providing today's lunch. After establishing exactly where they were, we found a place to park near the Wall just west of East Wallhouses. Good to meet them all and, after they'd eaten, to wave them off on the next stage of their walk.
MrM and I went on to Corbridge for a wander round the town - a very pretty place. Then a drive round through Bellingham, a walk in Sidwood with Louie, a visit to Black Middens Bastle House (extra) and, to finish off the day, a meal at the Redesdale Arms.
We had hoped to drive home via the road over the hills to Alwinton, but couldn't find it - it's not on the map - so we came via the Scottish Borders. A long way round, but through some fabulous countryside.
