Photo-a-day retirement

Photo and subject

Had an interesting time last night - was very excited that one of my photos taken after the earthquake was chosen to be in an exhibition called "The Family Album".

This is a collection being organized by curators from the University of Canterbury. It is photos taken by ordinary people of ordinary lives after the big quakes. They are making a digital archive of thousands of photos taken during and after the quakes, and the way people coped with the sudden and irreversible changes to their lives.

The exhibition is in a gallery at The Colombo, a new shopping precinct in Sydenham (363 Colombo St), and is on for the next week from 9-5. The photos show many aspects of life, and the more you look at them the more it all comes back. I certainly didn't expect the emotional reaction both my husband and I and I suspect the other people who were there had when looking at the photos.

Other Blippers out there who have taken photos I know the University want to collect as many as possible and would be very happy to get any you had.

The web address is www.canterbury.ac.nz/platform

This photo is my lovely husband with a photo I took of him peeling apples by the light of a Tilley lamp during the time we had no power after the big February 22 quake. The photo itself was on Blip here
