The Old and the New

There are three sets of barge boards on the Red House roof, because it has a step in it.  The first set are now in place; the second set are measured, cut, and in the process of being painted. Here is the final set. I took the old boards down and used them as a template. One was very rotten but the others were in ok condition which is quite something because they've been in place forty years and we haven't painted them in the last thirty!
I reckon when I've painted the new ones and put them in place it's unlikely I'll be around to renew them forty years from now!
