Once, in a fringetime of yore, the lip-service cycle-diversion when George Street was being pissed about with involved either Hill or Thistle or whatever streets, unless that was when George Street was being mangled in preparation for the Experiment. Even during heavy festival periods it's usually a much better way of going east-west on foot, but it's a pity my tyres don't really like it.
