Best boat
A summer wrap up.
Had our last summer row this lovely morning... This 1995 Alden is the best boat we own.. most used, most versatile. It has been well taken care of ( H is a maintenence guy) so she has been cleaned and waxed now and put away... Not hard to get her out again. The grey rowing float ( long time blippers know about this ritual ) will get put up on the beach at end of the bay by the boathouse probably in October. We can launch this boat from the dock no problem, but it's easier to get in and out on the float. We did get the tin boat put in the boathouse.
But alas my beautiful new "swan" boat ( in the blip foto) never made it to the dock... A big disappointment!! It was such a weird summer this year... In June my arm wasn't strong enuf to row, in July I got sick, then lots of people and dog, and we were away, another injury ( short) and then it was almost the middle of August! and we knew we'd be leaving early. So too much trouble with that one. Sadly. I do hope next year is better... Then there was the water saga.. The well pump broke on May 26 and we weren't at the end of that til August 18!, ( we hope it's the end) .. Our family that usually comes now in August couldn't come and we need some time at home before we take a trip mid September. So we are buttoning it all up until later October. Our friends on the sailboat arrived and are bringing dinner shortly, as the frig is pretty cleaned out. Cool!
Enuf grousing... Being by water and forest still feeds my soul and creative juices and I'm grateful to wake up every day, have coffee, get some exercise ( or work) , learn something, and make stuff! And it's a great place to visit with friends and family! ( and I've managed many weeks this summer with no laptop... It can be done!)
