Open Studios
Back to work this morning, but not quite as planned. One quarter of a mile on the warning lights in my car started flashing, and a message indicated I has a sudden loss of pressure in a rear tyre. Returning home - it was as flat as a pancake. It could have been much worse - a blow out on the way home yesterday evening. Thankful for small mercies.
Our weekend just gone coincided with the last weekend of Hampshire Open Studios, which is a really big event each year. We found the time to have a look at one or two of them. There are some amazingly talented people out there.
We bought these three pieces from justsostudio. It's a lady in Sway. We chatted to her in her back garden, where she had set out a little stall for visitors to look at. She trained in her twenties, but then bringing up kids took over. Now she's having another go. She clearly likes birds, as do I, and I thought her bird pieces were really good. So that's the bullfinch. And she has studied 1950's patterns, so that's the inspiration for the patterning on the jug and bowl.
Another jug (we have a few) keeps an eye on these newcomers.
