Tree felling on Rabbit Island

As seen from Mapua Wharf. I took photos while Trev saw his podiatrist. Always a pleasure being at Mapua no matter the time of day.
The Tasman District Council own the island and harvest the pines every 25 years or so. It is a great revenue source, keeps the sand from eroding and has an equestrian park, cycle and walkways and a very long beach.
A couple of extras showing the felling which is all done by a huge machine nowadays. Also the shops with the kotuku waiting at the fish shop.

You were all far too smart and guessed that my TT was a dust mask. I was so sure nobody would get it.:-)) Not sure what the metal bit does other than keep it in shape. I went to try it on and the elastic was so brittle it all fell apart.
Many thanks for your comments and stars.
