Countdown
I dropped Miss E and Miss L off at gym camp this morning and then hot footed it home in time to meet Mrs H who was coming to pick me up and take me to see my Sing and Sign venues.
We had a nice tour and it was good - if a little stomach churningly nerve-wracking - to see where in a few short weeks I'll be teaching my classes.
Don't lose the key don't lose the key, don't lose the key!!!!!!!!
I get on very well with Mrs H which is nice. We spent much of the day laughing - especially at my toe-curling accounts of disastrous university interviews!!! And her son and Miss E are so alike - it was fascinating comparing their behaviour and attitudes.
Once I got home I treated myself to a cup of tea, some toasted fruit loaf (I seem to have fallen of the Slimming World wagon somewhere in the holidays!!) and had a blissful couple of hours with my feet up watching television that I wanted to rather than The Croods, How to Train Your Dragon, some weird French cartoon about a cat and a ladybird, Glitter Force or Beauty and the Beast (for the fiftieth time!!!) before heading to pick up the Little Misses from gym camp. And take them to McDonalds for dinner (because I'm nice) and then to B&Q for tester pots (because we're on a mission this weekend to get jobs done and one of them is to paint the spare room).
I've just realised I've forgotten to mention our Wales camping saga. We were supposed to be going up to Wales tomorrow to camp in the fabulous campsite up the road from my brother's house. I booked it in February!!!
On Monday the woman from the campsite emailed to say she was terribly sorry but that they were having to cancel all bookings as the campsite is flooded due to all the rain they've had.
Annoyed I started looking at other campsites near Betws-y-Coed.
All full. We'll have to go further afield I thought.
Nothing in Snowdonia apart from a few that don't take bookings and which advise they're likely to be full by Friday evening. We won't get there until 9pm so I don't really fancy driving all that way to be met by a Full sign!!
Anglesey. Nothing.
My brother's garden? Flooded due to the dam-tastic river at the bottom of it!
Arse.
Oh well I thought, we'll have to go somewhere else. Suffolk? Sussex? Dorset? the New Forest? Warwickshire? Random sites just up the road?
Nothing.
People obviously booked before the Monday before the Bank Holiday and there's not a pitch to be found.
Annoying!!!!!!!
So it's a Plan B for the weekend and we're going to get some jobs done around the house that have been outstanding since we moved in - Miss E's wallpaper, the shelves in the alcove/weird offshoot room thing in the living room and painting the spare room.
And going to the Winslow Show on Monday which we love.
I'm so disappointed not to be going camping though. I was looking forward to being back in Snowdonia, seeing my brother, camping again in the most beautiful site I think we've ever been to and building another dam in the river.
Sigh.
