New toy

With the evenings closing in and good photographic light becoming less by the day (especially rainy days like today) I decided to splash out on one of those really quite cheap LED ring flashes.
As expected the flash won't synchronize with my camera, but with the LED light permanently on I was quite pleased with the result. It was nearly dark when I took this shot of a Burnished brass moth Diachrysia chrysitis, which kindly came to my moth trap last night, and whilst you can see I used flash I think the moth looks OK.
The ring flash comes with some diffusers, so I will try again with the diffuser on and see if I get a better result, not perfect, but so much better for the winter!
