Devastated. Gutted.
 
Jud Murray’s proposed tennis centre on our Greenbelt has been passed.
 
 
The first I knew was when I got a call from news agency asking for a comment. Well, I passed him on to our chair, Inga Bullen, and no sooner had I put the phone down on him than The Times came on the phone.
 
A few minutes later the Scottish Television were on the phone wanting to do an interview.
 
I gave them Inga’s phone number and a few minutes later I get a call from her- she wanted some moral support- the television crew were arriving in ten minutes and she was in the middle of decorating.
 
Well, we arrived at the same time as the television people and the interview was done in the garden.
 
Yes Inga made the six o’clock news.
 
What next? That’s yet to be decided. We are waiting for advise from our Advocate.
 
The Andy Murray tennis legacy is dependent on a minimum of £8.5 million of public money.  Where is that coming from in this time of austerity? out of the £15 million already allocated to the development of tennis  hubs around Scotland?
 
The Scottish Government gave permission for this controversial development even though the Reporter at the Public Inquiry recommended rejection, the local community campaigned against it,  and Stirling Council refused it because it is against the local development plan and planning laws.
 
The message is- if you want planning permission get a celeb on board.
 
The SNP are turning out to be a corrupt government who totally ignore the democratic process.
 
As for the Scottish Nationalist Party they are loosing support throughout the country because people are fed up with the way they ignore local democracy.
